In many ways, television has proved to be one of the worst inventions of modern times. All too often, television is harmfull because of the shows in broadcasts an the way it is used in our homes. We really need television?
One point against “teletrash” is that the owners of TV channels thinks only in how much money they are going to earn, making a new program. The most recent example of this case, ocurred last year at Telecinco; the TV show “La Noria” interviwed the mother of one of the murderers of Marta del Castillo. So, Telecinco payed 10.000 euros to that woman only because her son killed an innocent girl. This is the most recent example, but the biggest example of teletrash is the case of Belén Estaban. This woman, a lot of years ago, had married with a famous bullfighter: Jesús de Ubrique, and they had a child, so a time after that they had divorced. Since they had divorced, Belén had earning a lot of money appearing in tv shows like “La Noria” “Sálvame” etc, all this shows, of course are from the TV channel Telecinco. Telecinco has already became the national icon of teletrash, and the actually affected by this are children, so they don't distinguish good from bad things And it's curious that Telecinco belongs to the group Mediaset, and the owner of Mediaset is: Silvio Berlusconi.
On the other hand, not all TV channels are bad or are broadcasting teletrash. The best example of good channel in Spain is la Sexta. Since it began there are a channel that offers something new and fresh. The best program and his sign of identity is “Salvados” launched by Jordi Évole. The program consist on investigate with a little point of humor the present day in Spain. Recently, Jordi Évole has done a program about the "dubious" practices of some Spanish energy companies and how impacted them in the consumer. So the president of UNESA has asked to the president of la Sexta to remove the program “Salvados”.
So, to answer the question(we really need television?) Yes...
