Plot:
The novel ‘The hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy’ belongs to the science-fiction genre with a tinge of humour and creative-peculiarity which no other novel has been able to offer altogether. The author of this novel is ‘Douglas Adams’ who was an English novelist, a renowned dramatist and perhaps a remarkable musician.
The plot of the novel revolves around ‘Arthur Dent’, who moved out of London and went on to live in one of the villages within the West Country farmland in the UK. This begins with a bulldozer trying to demolish Arthur’s beloved house, while he tries to resist against the destruction as much as he could but then Mr. L Prosser affirms that he cannot do anything about it because of the construction of a bypass replacing his house. Moving on, Arthur Dent and his friend Ford Prefect depart for the extraordinary hitchhiking experience, along the way they are met with numerous and distinct species and races out of which some of them prove to be trouble-some and some assist them through the entire journey. The ultimate aim of Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect along with other characters while they all travel through the spaceship named ‘Heart of gold’ is to search for the renowned planet named ‘Magrathea’ and the question regarding life and universe. The entire plot is based on the journey that Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect experience together along with their individual discoveries and renditions, which have been captured and explained in the most magnificent manner within this novel.
