The DREAM Act (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) is a proposed legislation that allows young and high-achieving illegal immigrants to serve in the US military and continue with higher education. In particular, enacting the bill will allow eligible young immigrants to obtain legal citizenship status. There have been so many opinions, debates and approaches about passing this act. Some of the arguments are that it will increase enrollment in USA armed forces, it will allow undocumented children to go to college and obtain better jobs and it will increase tax revenues.

One of the arguments against this Act is that serving in the US army forces should not be one of the options to obtain citizenship. People can take advantage of this opportunity to get what they want. On the other side passing this act will increase the number of recruiters for the US military. USA military have never been in more need for soldiers than ever. In his article, Domenic Deirostates “Despite our active participation in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,our American military units are in need of people to serve”(Domenic Deiro). This is one of the many reason why this Act should pass.

The second argument against the DREAM Act is that many students feel like that is unfair, to give immigrant people the opportunity to go to college by removing some standards that US citizens have to meet. Giving undocumented immigrants the opportunity to go to school will not take away the places for US born students. They will need to meet different standards so they will have chance to go to college. This also will increase college attendance it will not take

away nothing from USA born students. Some of the conditions are: “An undocumented high-school graduate….if they have been physically present in the USA for at least five years…”(The Dream Act).

And third but not last argument against this Act is that the Act will add millions of individuals who will utilize government...
