In the novel, The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night-Time written by Mark Haddon, 3 characters that I enjoyed reading about were Christopher, Judy and Ed.
Christopher is a 15 year old teenage boy who has Asperger’s . He doesn’t really understand how people are feeling. Christopher is really adventurous because he likes solving mysteries, for example, he decides to write a book about who killed the dog, Wellington. Christopher also went to London by himself and when he was in a really difficult situation, for example he was in a crowded space at the train station; he tried to solve maths equations, puzzles and diagrams in his head to show how he made his own decisions. He walked to his mother’s house in London which I thought was really brave; Christopher sat the A level Maths exam. In the end, Christopher finished writing his mystery novel about who killed the dog, Wellington. Christopher passed his A level Maths exam with an A grade. Christopher said, “I know I can do this because I went to London on my own, and because I solved the mystery of who killed Wellington? and I found my mother and I was brave and I wrote a book and that means I can do anything”. Christopher helped me understand that he can do anything even if you have a disorder.
Although Christopher’s dad got angry at him because he found Christopher’s mystery novel and Ed read what he wrote, Ed still loved him. Ed killed the dog because he was angry at his wife, Judy Boone, for having an affair with Mr Shears. Ed took care of Christopher when his wife left them. I think that takes a lot of courage to take care of Christopher because Christopher has Asperger’s. In the end, Ed buys a puppy for Christopher proving he wouldn’t hurt Christopher. Ed said, “Christopher. I would never, ever do anything to hurt you”. Ed helped me understand that it is difficult to cope with a son with Asperger’s and he loved his son, a lot.
Christopher’s mum left the family because she thought that...
