Below is an essay on "Teen Sexting" from Anti Essays, your source for research papers, essays, and term paper examples.

“Sexting” has become the widely used term for the act of sending sexually explicit photos or videos to one another through electronic means such as sms/mms text messaging or E-Mail as well as any online photo sharing or social network websites such as Photobucket, Imageshack, Facebook, Myspace, and hundreds more.   All teens have mobile phones with cameras in this day and age, and the adolescent brain is known to make impulsive decisions, especially under peer pressure.   With all of the means so readily available, mistakes in judgment will be made in an instant, and they are difficult to undo, and are able to have serious significant social and legal implications.

Sexting is considered a criminal offense everywhere in the United States, some of the charges that can result from sexting include felony and misdemeanor offenses such as child pornography, distributing or possessing a sexually explicit photo, and communicating with a minor with the intent of a lewd act.   Attempting to seduce or sending lewd texts or photos to a minor is a serious offense, especially in the case of an adult and a minor. I believe that this law should reform, as it applies unfairly in a lot of cases, the lives of teenage couples should not be stigmatized for life because of a curiosity that comes natural to them. Even if an 18 year old boy a sexually suggestive to his 16 year old girlfriend, he could be hit with a charge. Or if the girl sends any type of sexually suggestive image to the boy, the boyfriend could be charged with possession of child pornography solely for receiving the image.   If you are convicted with any type of sexual offense or criminal charge seen as sexual in nature, you will be required to register as a sex offender, and be part of a national database, placing you under the same category as child molesters and rapists for the rest of your life.

Setting aside the legal troubles that could come out of sexting, you can bring tragic social consequences upon yourself...
