Now how are these sex trafficking victims pimped out? Well specifically speaking they are forced to prostitute themselves more often these girls are starved, confined, physically abused, raped, drugged, or told they have to follow their rules in order to stay in the country. Sex traffickers use a variety of methods to “prepare” their victims. There is a tremendous amount of physical abuse, as well as rapes, and gang rape. Electrocution is another method used to condition these victims to perform these hideous sexual acts. Many instances of forced drug use have also been noted to occur. Creating a drug addict who will do anything to get their next fix is a very effective tool to gain compliance. Not all conditioning methods are physical. Psychological methods are also used to help create a willing victim. Threats of violence to the victim and the victim’s families, and the threat of shaming their victims by revealing their activities to their family and friends is a common method of coercion. Victims also face numerous health risks. These risks include drug and alcohol addiction, broken bones, burns, and traumatic brain injuries. Sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies and abortions are a common occurrence in these situations. They can suffer from vaginal and/or anal tearing as well. Psychological damage is also caused by these conditioning methods. It can include; depression, insomnia, self-hatred, and hatred of men. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, acute anxiety, suicidal thoughts and in some cases, suicides are also caused by this criminal and unjust act of sex trafficking.
