Procrastination refers to the act of replacing high-priority actions with tasks of lower priority, or doing something from which one derives enjoyment, and in consequence putting off important tasks to a later time. Every person has their own style or way they accomplish doing work. Many feel the need to begin working on an assignment right when they get it. While others procrastinate and do not complete the assignment until right before it is due. There are many different attitudes that one may have when dealing with work. Everyone accomplishes work in their own way.   The motto for most procrastinator’s is “I perform better under pressure”! Procrastination can make or break a person. One can either handle the pressure or the person breaks completely. Fear of the outcome, lack of concentration, and laziness are all causes of procrastination. Procrastination is like many other things. It has good and bad causes followed by good and bad effects.

There are many causes of procrastination; the most common cause of procrastination is the fear of the outcome. For example it’s the fear of rejection or simply the fear of looking like a fool. Nobody wants to be told that their work didn’t meet certain standards. Another common cause of procrastination is that people just don’t know where and how to start. For instance without knowing where to start this is the excuse for people to set the task aside until a later date. Laziness is also common when it comes to procrastination especially within teens, for example we become lazier than before. Laziness is the most effective poison which kills individuals from achieving their goals. Once you put off a task for too long, part of you starts to think, "Why bother?" There are actually individuals who put things off to the last minute because the want whatever they’re working on to be perfect.
