Reading nineteen minutes, makes you realize what can be caused by a troubled or bullied student. I connected Peter to Robert in the song Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People. This is a text to text connection. In the song Pumped up Kicks, Robert is described as a depressed bullied adolescent, who dreams of vengeance towards his peers.
One connection I made was both students wanted and got revenge on the group of popular students who bullied them. Bullying pushes people to their limits, Peter a quiet, shy boy was pushed into becoming a murder, who killed nineteen people. Peter shows how vengeful he was on page 99 where he said to the officer, “How many did I get?” The hook in Pumped up kicks shows who Robert targets are and his revenge.
“All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
"You better run, better run, faster than my bullet” Robert is targeting the popular group of wealthy students with the “pumped up kicks” that probably make fun of him because of his wardrobe.
Another connection I made is how Peter and Robert got a hold of gun. They both have a father that possessed a gun and never kept it in a safe place. “He watched his father take the rifle back to the gun cabinet” pg.89. Peter sees where his father leaves his gun, making it easier to get hold of a gun. "Yeah, he found a 6-shooter gun
In his dad's closet" This lyric shows how easy it was to find a gun for Robert.
In conclusion, I do believe that these two characters were very similar and that's why they had the same goal. They both wanted revenge on the popular bullies.
