What is mobile recruiting?   According to Snell and Bohlander, mobile recruiting is “the process of recruiting candidates via mobile devices” (p. 189).   Mobile devices consisting of smartphones and tablets are being used for many reasons including checking email, web searching, and mobile banking.   Mobile devices can now be used to recruit a potential employee or allow a potential employee to search for a job.   Users of mobile devices have accepted the technology because of the ease of use and the convenience of being able to access anything at any time.   Mobile recruiting allows recruiters another avenue to reach potential job candidates; an avenue that can be cost effective.   Today more people use mobile devices than desktop PCs.  
Where does mobile recruiting work best?   Mobile recruiting can be used with mobile applications, corporate websites, and text messaging.   One mobile application that is quite useful and popular is LinkedIn.   LinkedIn can be used to post job openings, connect with potential candidates, and post industry related news.   One feature of LinkedIn includes alerts of job postings to users that have certain skills in their profile that meet the requirements of those job postings.   Users also have the option to code their profile as “looking for a job” and that will inform recruiters that the individual might have the skills they are looking for.   Mobile applications create online communities that the end user can join and stay informed about the industry they are interested in (Rafter, 2011).   Corporate websites draw the job seeker directly to the organization’s website to the open job positions.   But in order for the end user to use this option, it is important to optimize the corporate web site for mobile use.   Mobile devices do not have a separate keyboard nor a mouse so it is advisable to make the site finger friendly, in other words do not include buttons that would require a double click motion by the end...
