Legalize Gay marriage in France? Yes or Not
According to dictionary.reference.com, marriage is defined as “the social institution under which a man and a woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.” but what about same-sex marriage (also known as gay marriage between two persons of the same biological sex)? Legalize gay marriage in France is a big issue especially at this time where presidential election are held.
I support the legalization of gay marriage, as there is no moral reason not to give gay couples the same rights as heterosexual couples. It would be normal that gay couples could have a marriage at the town hall and not only the right to PACS. Some would think that is enough for them but there is not romance in this act, gay couples want marriage equality. It is a discrimination not to give
them the choice of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The main issue with the same-sex
marriage is the religion point of view but marriage is not just religious, they should be able to marry, to show their mutual love and link their family by the marriage. People against it are often related to homophobia and I think being against this right is a real discrimination for gay couples.
Nevertheless, despite many critical “same-sex marriage was a leading international concern throughout 2011” is the title of the article on the LGBTQNATION newspaper. We learn that New York legalized gay marriage which is very important because it is “the second most populous US state”, that “President Nicolas Sarkozy will announce his support in elections” and also that a lot of countries recognized the marriage of a gay couple.
The world is in constant motion and according to the article many countries will legalize gay marriage like President Nicolas Sarkozy in the coming elections. Gay couples should be allowed to marry; it should be a personal choice and not a right.
