Leadership and You
Oprah Winfrey is globally and nationally known, who is an influential leader. Her leadership skills will be displayed; her strengths will be revealed and any weaknesses that she has will also be showcased. I will use the leadership theories and practices that I learned over the last twelve weeks to see if she has any loop holes in her leadership skills. I really do not think she has any leadership flaws but research will reveal if she does or does not.
If I find any weaknesses in Oprah Winfrey leadership abilities, the knowledge that I have gain over the past twelve weeks, I will give recommendations that would increase her effectiveness. However, I really do not believe that she would need any recommendations from me but we will see. She is rich, she is influential, she is humble, and she is smart. Surely there are no leadership flaws in my Oprah Winfrey. Hence, research will reveal.
Content and Analysis
When I think of an exemplary leader, I think of a person that usually models the way for others to follow. They are not just speaking a good thing; they are doing it because a title does not make you a leader, it is the behavior that dictates leadership (Kouzes & Posner, 2012). When I think of an exemplary leader, I think of one that has a vision and is not afraid to take any risks. This person builds trust with others which this will “enable others to act” (Kouzes & Posner, 2012, p. 21). If this person does not have a foundation of credibility then honesty, visionary, competent, and inspiring others may not exist because these four elements are the foundation of credibility (Kouzes & Posner, 2012).
