United States of America suffered the Great Depression which begun on the 29th of October, 1929, the date which the steadily rising stock market of America over nearly a decade has plunged and collapsed. As the consequences of the severe crash, America’s yet the most relentless economic downturn commenced. Billions of dollars were wiped off the stock market, the banks failed, panic arose among people, significant drop in the values of the good shares and the rates of crime and suicide also rose dramatically. The Great Depression lasted up until 1939. During this era, Herbert Clark Hoover served his presidency from 1929 to 1933, followed by Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was the president from 1933 to 1945. Herbert Hoover, being a Republican and Franklin Roosevelt, being a Democrat managed to agree on the desirability of maintain a capitalist economy and that the government’s role was to achieve the best results for both the American business and its people. However, understandably, the two presidents certainly had different ideas to deal with the Great Depression and often strongly disagreed on certain parts.
Herbert Hoover has been the president for six month when the Great Depression started. The Great Depression continued its downfall, causing all the problems it ever could to America, making Hoover face the worst depression in the American history. Hoover is said to be possibly the most qualified president in the 1920’s. He had his own principles which he believed all his life that which he followed. Hoover grew up under his two uncles after his parents have passed away when he was young and was a president who knew poverty from experience. He worked his own way through and graduated college and university where he studied engineering before lived on as an acknowledged mining engineer, a successful business man whom he became and earned millions of dollars before the age of forty.
