Drinking alcohol has a lot of short-term and long-term effects that affect one’s body. Drinking a lot of alcohol or drinking heavily over long periods of time can have major and serious consequences on the body, inside and outside. It can affect one’s brain, heart, pancreas, liver, lungs, stomach, kidneys, skin, bones and more. Drinking alcohol in excess over time has negative effects on the body.
Alcohol interferes with how the brain works and functions. It can change your mood and behavior, make it hard to think, hard to talk and hard to coordinate your movements. Drinking alcohol can cause severe and permanent brain damage.   Over time alcohol causes a lot of memory loss and your ability to create memories is damaged. It can cause dementia, which is the permanent damage of the brain. Alcoholism also can cause you to have deficiency of vitamin B1, which causes your eyes to move either really fast involuntary or can cause paralysis of the eye muscles.
Alcohol is the second biggest risk factor for cancers of mouth and throat after the cigarettes. Alcohol increases your risks of getting certain cancers. Some of the cancers that one can get from drinking too much alcohol for a long time are, mouth, esophagus, throat, liver, and breast cancers. People can get cirrhosis of the liver from drinking to much alcohol and can easily develop liver cancer. The liver becomes very inflamed , and can also cause alcoholic hepatitis, which can result in liver failure and death.
Alcohol can also increase one’s risk of having a heart attack because it causes high blood pressure, hypertension. It also can weaken the muscles of the heart causing it to affect the functioning of other parts of the body like the lungs, liver, brain and almost all the other body systems. People who drink alcohol are more likely to get lung infections and pneumonia. It also affects the pancreas because it inflames it and it can be very painful, can cause vomit, fever and   rapid weight loss. One can...
