Representations 1, 2 and 3 are all representations on the impact of protest on US Society. Representation 1 is about the impact by the Civil Right Movement. Representation 2 is about the impact of Martin Luther King Jr and the Civil Right Movement in America. Finally, representation 3 is about the impact of the Freedom Riders. In this essay, I will be analysing and commenting on which Representation I think is the best, based on accuracy, balance and completeness.
First of all, Representation 2 is the best for accuracy. This is because Representation 2 (rep) has lots of facts and dates. I know this because in the rep it says “in February 1960, when four black students sat down at a lunch counter” and “The freedom riders met with white violence in the Alabama cities of Anniston. This is accurate because it doesn’t contradict my own knowledge and it is supported by a quote found in the History Textbook “Freedom riders watch as the bus they were travelling in goes up in flames after, being bombed in Anniston, 14 May 1901”. This therefore shows that representation 2 is the best Representation because it accurate to a large extent.
Also, representation 2 is accurate because it gives us accurate information about the progress in civil rights but also tells us people attitudes towards Martin Luther King’s speech ‘I have a dream’. This is very accurate because it gives us different perceptive and gives us lots of facts based on the impact of protest. However, the representation needs to be backed up by more detail but from my knowledge I can show that the comments are accurate. In addition representation 2 is the best Representation for accuracy and it’s accurate to a large extent.
From this, it can be said that Representation 1 and 3 are not the best for accuracy. This is because representation 1 says “on 25 July 1960, was when the lunch counter was finally desegregated”. This fact isn’t supported by any of the reps and in the history textbook it doesn’t specify the...
