Employment laws play an important role when it comes to starting a business.   When talking about a small business like Mr. Bradley Stonefield, it is important to look at the variables of the business.   These variables include the type of business, the size and location of the business.   The business that Mr. Stonefield is trying to build is a limousine service.   After talking with Stonefield, it was determined that the business would be located in Austin Texas, his home town.   Mr. Stonefield also stated that he is looking to hire 25 employees by year’s end.   Based on this information this paper will provide Mr. Stonefield with a list of the ten most important employment laws that he should consider in his business.

    Ten Important Employment Laws
    Below is a comprehensive list of the ten most important employment laws that Mr. Stonefield should focus on when starting his business.   There is a combination of both federal and state employment laws.
  Law One: Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII
        This is an anti-discrimination law that protects against discrimination based upon race, color, gender, national origin, and religion.   “As an expression of social policy, the law was passed to guarantee that people would be considered for jobs not on the basis of the color of their skin, their religion, their gender, or their national origin, but rather on the basis of the abilities and talents that are necessary to perform a job” (Cascio, 2013, p. 99).
        Consequences for noncompliance:
        By not complying with this law the employer can be sued and back pay must be provided until the matter is resolved.
