“The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors”.
* American Red Cross
In my state, the American Red Cross DAT is based on region. Orlando, FL falls in the Mid-Florida Region. The Disaster Action Team is a un-call emergency team that is available around the clock (24/7) to help people in their neighborhoods. In the Mid-Florida region, the American Red Cross DAT gets quite a few fire calls each day, that urges them to go out and provide the people in need with urgent requirements. Needs urgently required like food, clothes, and shelter when and after a disaster has hit.
Since the Mid-Florida Region DAT is constantly overwhelmed with calls daily, they are in great need of more volunteers. There aren’t that must restrictions, jus that they require applicants to be available when needed, and over the age of 18. They have un-going basic training month after month, for both new volunteers and present members.
The American Red Cross DAT is known to work with other agencies in the spirit of ensuring the safety of the people they are helping. They are a nonprofit organization that works strictly uses donations for funding and other resources needed to do their job correctly. If you check their website, it had a separate tab that any person can use to donate blood, first aid tools, etc. they also have locates around the region that accept drop off items. To the Red Cross DAT, the profit of helping citizens in distress in the knowledge that they have saved a live or lives of others. Aside from the Red Cross DAT, they offer training classes to the public that can be used in your everyday life in the event that the DAT is not call or is there on a timely manner.
