Introduction
This reading report will discuss Don Whitney’s Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, revised and updated in 2014 after initial publication in 1991.   Whitney holds two doctorate degrees, one in ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and one in philosophy from the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa.   He serves as president of the Center for Biblical Spirituality and is associate dean at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville since 2005.   He has written numerous books on the subject of spirituality for the purpose of godliness.
This report will summarize the book which has a total of thirteen chapters and 341 pages.   A brief critique will be presented in addition to personal application of how Whitney’s proposals can be utilized in daily life which will be followed by a conclusion.
