“In the United States, researchers estimate that 40%-50% of all first time marriages, and 60% of second time marriages, will end in a divorce.” Marriages don’t always last and sometimes they often result into a divorce. Three of the leading causes of divorce are Lack of Communication, commitment, and last but not least infidelity in the relationship. Almost half of American marriages now end in a divorce.
One main cause of marriages ending in divorce is lack of communication. Many couples lack the proper communication when it comes to making decisions’. When a couple is able to communicate they are able to solve their problems verbally. Disagreements due to lack of communication, often lead to arguments either verbal or physical. Seventy percent of the experts surveyed said that men cite nagging and complaining as the top communication problem in their marriage. Women's top complaint was that their spouse doesn't validate their opinions or feelings enough, according to 83 percent of experts.
Another big reason couples get divorced is their lack of commitment. When two people come together as one in marriage they are choosing to commit their lives to each other. A lot of times people jump right into marriage and they don’t even fully know their spouse causing them to have an immature relationship. Lack of commitment in a relationship also shows lack of maturity. When immature people decide to get married quickly they don’t take it as serious and soon end in a divorce.
Another main cause of divorce in the United States is infidelity. Infidelity is the act of being unfaithful. When someone decides to have a relationship with another person while still in a marriage they are not only being unfaithful to their partner, but they are being unfaithful to themselves.
