Report # 2
I learned about many different cultures during this section. I found out a lot about their religious views, were they originated from, how they dressed, etc. All the Cultures I learned about were very interesting. Learning about these cultures gave me a better view about different cultures. That they all have different meanings to why they do the things they do. I found it very interesting learning about the cultures because it makes me want to know what other people do out in this world that’s different from what I do.
Over that past couple of weeks of learning about these different cultures it’s made me want to go visit them and actually get to personally get to know what it’s like to live the way they do. The culture I’d like to go see is the Hindus. For the Hindus religion is a matter of practice rather than of beliefs. It's more what you do, than what you believe. Hindus believe in a universal soul or God called Brahman. Brahman takes on many forms that some Hindus worship as gods or goddesses in their own right. Hindus believe that there is a part of Brahman in everyone and this is called the Atman. They also believe in reincarnation. This means that the soul is eternal and lives many lifetimes, in one body after another. I would also like to go to some of their festivals, such as the festival of lights. I think it would be very pretty and neat to see all the town with their lamps and lanterns light all over the streets and towns.
My favorite part about learning about the cultures was seeing how many people are still living the way their ancestors did. How they protect their cultural beliefs. That is why I would like to visit some of these other cultures to get to understand their love for their culture. I would love to also actually witness the spirit dances, or music and even try the food. Hinduism was just one culture I learned about but there are many others with lots of interesting things about them. I can’t wait...
