Have we increased or changed our communication with one another? Most like myself would agree that we indeed have. Not only in technology but also in the way we have a conversation now. Our language especially for teen is less formal than it use to be. We tend to be lazy per say, by shortening certain words or just changing the word completely. Technology also has change our form of communication. Technology is a plus for communication by making communication faster and easier. Most would agree that its a negative factor to communication because of the effects of it.
Fads, styles, music, social media, all these aspects change the way teens communicate with each other. By using words like IDK( I don't know), SMH(shaking my head), or BTW(by the way) has declined many teens skills in writing. "Dramatic decline in the writing abilities of the students" says Terry Wood, a foreign language teacher. Also the meaning of familiar words that we know has change. For example in teens use the word "ratchet" to describe someone as ghetto, but the real definition of the word is a device consisting of a bar or wheel with a set of angled teeth in which a pawl, cog, or tooth engages, allowing motion in one direction only. The change to our communication has basically dumb down our skills to say smart or intelligent things to each other, not only to each other but also in the classroom.
Technological devices that helps us communicate with each other has been a plus to society by making communication faster, easier, and also helps us save time. Most will agree that there are negative aspects to technological communication but the positives outweigh the negatives this time.
