Cloud Computing in the Caribbean
Information technology involves any machine, tool or piece of equipment that is controlled by a computer. It involves hardware and software. Information technology’s main role is the ability to manipulate data into information. Information technology is at such a level that there are new directions for products and services. Here enters the next big leap in internet’s evolution: Cloud Computing. Cloud computing is very ubiquitous as some features of the service provides computing infrastructure for application, data and file storage, training new personnel or licensing new software. It is a service that can be delivered to you wherever and whenever you need. In my assignment I will covering the models and types of cloud computing, issues, analysis and recommendations and the importance and relevance of cloud computing in the Caribbean.
Cloud Computing Models
There are three (3) different cloud computing models: Software as a service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and Platform as a service (PaaS).
1. Software as a service (SaaS): With this model, the application is offered to customers as a service on demand. There is no need to install, manage or buy hardware for it. You simply connect and use it.
2. Infrastructure as a service (IaaS): The IaaS layer provides storage and computing resources over the network. IT organizations use this to deliver business solutions.
3. Platform as a service (PaaS): In this layer, the customer has the freedom to build their own applications, which would run on the provider’s infrastructure. E.g. billing services.
Types of Cloud Computing Services
Businesses can choose to deploy applications on Public, Private, Hybrid clouds or the newer Community Cloud.
Public clouds are owned and operated by third parties. They offer this service over the internet, giving each individual client an attractive low cost pay-as-you-go model. Each individual...
