The Telegraph newspaper made a study that shows that between 20% and 40% of
college students in the United States enter their first year undecided. Choosing a major is
arguably the most important decision students will make in college, especially because it
can affect their career choices after graduation. For many students it is difficult to choose
their major. Thus, the best steps that guarantee you will choose your right major are by
following your dreams, and asking a counselor.

First you should major in subject areas that interest and feel passionate about
it; consequently, it will make you engage fully with the material you are learning and
marketable in a competitive workforce. Beside you should learn who you are, what
you love, and where you find yourself good at. Also   parents should not interfere and
force you to choose a major you don’t like. Even if the you don’t know
what you want to be, you can still determine your skills and interest by looking at your
academic history, especially in the challenging and comprehensive classes in which you
perform well. Moreover you may also reflect on your past experiences, jobs you’ve
done to determine your major. Hence you should be wise and patience while you are
choosing your major.

However, following your dream is not enough to guarantee for you to
choose your perfect major. In addition, you might also take the advice of your school’s
career development department to help you get on the right if you are still undecided
about a college major. Much such department provides assessment tools to help you
find a major that synthesize your interests and skills. Also they help you to identify
what you like because the advisors have dealt with many students before, so they have a
good experience in that domain.   It is good to take advise from many people, so don’t be
afraid to ask.

To conclude, choosing a major is a decision college students should not take
