Blackfish: SeaWorld isn’t as magical as we thought.
Entertainment is one of the most important things to people in the world today. That is where most of our money is made, we are into anything that will easily stimulate us and create entertainment for ourselves and our families. Think about places like Disneyland, 42 million people or more, visit Disneyland each year from all over the world. Disneyland has been recorded to make over 41 billion dollars a year. Of course that number varies on how many people visit in that year. Even Universal Studios for example, has over 30 million people visit their parks annually, which makes it the third largest operating amusement park in the world. Universal studios produced yearly revenue of 21 billion dollars in 2013 between all of their parks. SeaWorld, being another popular tourist attraction had 24 million visitors between their three parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio. The owner of SeaWorld stated that the park had made an annual income of 75 million dollars, which was outstanding compared to what they had made in previous years. But will SeaWorld still be a popular favorite among tourists after the release of the movie Blackfish? Now that the world has been enlightened on the treatment of the animals there, will people still pay money to enter a park that practices such animal cruelty?

Blackfish was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2013. Since the initial showing of the film, it has spread like wildfire throughout the world. The film’s main idea was to educate people on the treatment of animals in parks like SeaWorld. Most people would think that a documentary like this would just be a publicity stunt to draw attention to their movie company and stir up trouble. This however, was not the case.
