Burger Kings Organizational Structure

Burger King is a large fast food company that need organizational structure in order to continue to be successful. This was found by considering many things before choosing their structure. Burger King had many things that effected their choice of their organizations structure. Once all of those things were considered they did find a structure that works good for their organization. According to “BusinessDictionary.com”,(2014) website, “the typically hierarchical arrangement of lines of authority, communications, rights, and duties of an organization. Organizational structure determines how the roles, power, and responsibilities are assigned, controlled, and coordinated, and how information flows between the different levels of management” (Organizational Structure, 2014). Knowing this shows that many parts of an organization can influence the structure that is chosen for the organization. Burger King considered all of the parts and functions of management when determining their structure.
Burger King uses a divisional structure for their organization. A divisional structure is used to break up the work into divisions. This allows the managers to be in charge of one area of the operations. According to A. Garica (2005), “a divisional structure is made up of separate, semi-autonomous units or divisions. Within one corporation there may be many different divisions and each division has its own goals to accomplish. A manager oversees their division and is completely responsible for the success or failure of the division. This gets managers to focus more on results knowing that they will be held accountable for them” (Types of Organizational Designs, 2005).
