Many may not realize but birth order is a very important determining factor in which the person behaves. Birth order is often believed to have a profound and lasting effect on psychological development. Alfred Adler (1870–1937) is known to be the pioneer of birth order theory which suggests that birth order influences personality.   According to Adler, firstborns are "dethroned" when a second child comes along, and this may have a lasting influence on them. Younger and only children may be pampered and spoiled, which can also affect their later personalities. The theory has had drastic changes to it since Adler’s times.   More recent research analyzed data from a national sample of 9,664 subjects on the Big Five personality traits of extraversion, neuroticism, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. Many experts believe that birth order is an important tool in shaping how you turn out as an adult. It determines how you see the world, how you expect the world to treat you, and how you treat others.
