Approach relating to labour cost:
Total labour costs for each recommend option has to be calculated:
  * No Additional Dryer
  * One Additional Dryer
  * Two Additional Dryers
To calculate all Labour costs, the total production time has to be considered as in Section X.
As depicted in (Section calculated processing time) Total Processing rate will increase by 200bbls/hr per additional dryer, this will result in shorter processing times and ultimately leading to lower labour cost.
The total Labour force is depicted in the Table below:
  | Full Time | Seasonal | Total |
Receiving | 6 | 9 | 15 |
Processing | 19 | 17 | 36 |
Control | 2 | 0 | 2 |
Total | 27 | 26 | 53 |
Note: The Control Staff is on rotational roster, a maximum of 52 staff will work.
All staff is able to work for 8 hours before undergoing overtime pay at 1.5x the original pay. As a result receiving staff will work until 18000llbs are unloaded; (at 1050llb/hr) it will take 10 hours (2 hours overpay for receiving staff).
The processing section of the plant is affected by the implementation of the dryers by increasing the maximum processing rate by 200llb/hr ; the first drier will reduce the operational period by 5 hours and the second drier by 3 hours of total processing time (See Figure 2), this is proceeded until all 18000lbs are processed.
The following 3 tables will outline data used to calculate labour cost.
Type/Hourly (per Hour) | Normal | Overtime (1.5x) |
Seasonal | $2.25 | $3.38 |
Full Time | $3.75 | $5.63 |

Normal hours | Number of additional Dryers |   |   |
Total Hours | 0 | 1 | 2 |
Receiving | 8 | 8 | 8 |
Processing | 8 | 8 | 8 |
Control | 16 | 16 | 13 |

Overtime | Number of additional Dryers |   |   |
Total Hours | 0 | 1 | 2 |
Receiving | 2 | 2 | 2 |
Processing | 13 | 8 | 5 |
Control | 5 | 0 | 0 |

Total Labour Cost was calculated using the following equation:   h=hours, r = Rate
Total Labour cost=Receiving+Processing+Control...
