Being "born again" is an ongoing topic that has caused an uproar for centuries. Some take
it as actually dying and coming back to life in a different body, but that is not the way I will be
interpreting it today. Born again to me is a spiritual term that does not mean that I am an entirely
different or new human being. I will still be me; still go by the name that I always have. The major
difference of being born again to me, would be where I will go after life.
One of the benefits of being born again is that God promised us eternal life. The Bible
says that eternal life is a present possession. If we could lose that life from God then we never
had eternal life. Our life is Christ's life when we are saved and Christ cannot die again
(Montgomery). Having eternal life is something that almost everyone wants because
no one really wants to die. Being born again implies we will be able to live forever and
we would not be able to be harmed again, and infinitely happy.
How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s
womb, and be born (Baxter)? Well we cannot enter our mother's womb again, but that is not
what He meant by that. The second birth is spiritual, not physical. Jesus said without being
born again we cannot enter or see the kingdom of God, which means we cannot be
“Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature…and He is the
head of the Body, the Church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things
He might have the preeminence" (Pack). When the Bible said "who is the beginning" its referring
to how He made everyone and everything on this earth, so He is the only one that can determine
where we go after we die. And the only way to see God's Kingdom, is if...
