Prompt Number 2:
Explain the significance of setting in the play. Consider locale as well as time of day/night.   What are the different settings and how are they differentiated from one another?   What might we say that they stand for, if anything, metaphorically?   Are the settings sharply contrasted from one another and in what way(s)?   Do the characters act differently as they move through different settings and if so how?   What does this contribute to the play?   What is the relationship of the structure of the play itself and the structures of the settings?   What might be suggested by Shakespeare’s choice to begin and end the play in Athens?
