Would acid rain corrode human skin? If so, would an increase in the release of sulphur dioxide gas, SO2, into the atmosphere and hence, results in the formation of acid rain would corrode the skin?
A low pH value of acid mixture, sulphuric acid and nitric acid, would corrode the sausage even greater and hence reducing its weight. The weight of the sausage is inversely proportional to the pH value of the acid mixture.
The manipulated variable is the pH value of the acid mixture namely sulphuric acid and nitric acid.
The responding variable is the weight change of the sausage and the change in its physical appearances.
The control variable is that the sausages used in the experiment have to be identical in terms of weight, size and appearances.
Sausages, large glass containers with a cover, glass-based water sprinkler bottle, sulphuric acid and nitric acid of pH 6, pH 5, pH 4, pH 3, pH 2 and pH 1, water, weighing balance, rubber gloves
Weigh and measure the sausages so that it would be identical in terms of weight, size and appearances. Sprinkle different pH levels of sulphuric acid and nitric acid onto the sausages. Observe the change in physical appearance of the sausages and weigh and record the final weight of the sausages.
7 containers were labelled with water, pH 6, pH 5, pH 4, pH 3, pH 2 and pH 1. Sausages with similar size and appearances were. The sausages were weighed on the weigh balance and the weight of each sausage was recorded into a table. A second and third reading of the sausages were also taken and recorded into the table. A sausage was placed in each of the glass container respectively. Water was poured into a water sprinkler bottle. The previous step was repeated with a mixture of nitric acid and sulphuric of pH 6, pH 5, pH 4, pH 3, pH 2 and pH 1 into each respective water sprinkler bottles. The...
