Can you imagine not having any say so in whether or not you want to have a life? Imagine not being able to do anything about your life being taken away from you. Imagine never having the chance to take your first breath, your whole future demolished. The content of this paper will discuss abortion, and why it has been such a controversial topic amongst Americans for quite some time now. Abortion is a matter of life and death, and this topic has an equal amount of supporters on both sides as to why they are either for or against this issue. In the following paper, I will give you opinions from both of the opposing sides- the pro-choice aspect as well as the pro-life aspect. Both of the opposing sides in the debate each strongly believe that they are right in the matter. This topic is very controversial because of its frequency of occurrences, and because its legal, cultural, and religious status vary in different regions of the world.
Abortion is defined as the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. The controversy over abortion has a few good pointers from both viewpoints; the Pro Choice side and the Pro Life side. Pro lifers argue that a human fetus is still a human being with a right to live as well as anyone else. To Pro life groups, abortion basically equals murder. On the other hand, and contrast to what Pro lifers believe, groups who are pro choice believe that women have the choice on what to do with their bodies. Those who are Pro choice argue that a woman has reproductive rights, and that it is her decision as to whether or not she wants to carry her pregnancy to term.
